Test Chart 2016 provides a wide range of near vision tests when connected to a tablet. The patient is handed the tablet and asked to hold it at an appropriate distance. The practitioner can then change the vision tests remotely from the PC.
Selecting Near Test Mode
When Use tablet is enabled, additional buttons are added to the toolbar at the bottom of the Floating Control Window as shown below:
These buttons determine what is displayed on the thumbnail on the Floating Control Window and on the tablet.
There are two options for the Floating Window toolbar:
There are three options on the Tablet toolbar:
Alternatively, pressing the 0 button under User Defined Tests on the remote will swap the remote function to Near Chart Mode. Pressing the 0 again will return the function to controlling the distance test chart. NOTE: This will only work if Use tablet has been enabled otherwise 0 will act as a normal user-defined key.
Selecting a Near Vision Test
The near vision tests are arranged into seven groups:
The groups are selected by clicking on the corresponding button in the Primary Toolbar as shown below:
The various options available for each test are shown in the Secondary toolbar. For example, the Secondary Toolbar for the Acuity test is shown below:
Using the IR remote control and Keyboard in Near Chart Mode
When in Near Chart mode, the IR remote may be used to select any of the near vision tests as follows:
The seven test modes are selected using the first seven buttons on the remote:

Having selected a test, the various options available for this test are selected using the horizontal blue cursor keys.
If other options are available within the test, these may be changed using the vertical blue cursor control keys, pgUp or pgDn or the Test options keys.
For example, the size of the text displayed when in Acuity mode is changed using the vertical blue cursor control keys.
