System requirements
The ReadEZ 2020 screening software will run on most PCs running Windows 7 or later. The requirements in terms of disc space, RAM and processor speed are minimal. We would be happy to offer advice on the suitability of your hardware.
Display Screen
The display screen is probably the most important component of the system. The screen must have adequate resolution to display the test stimuli and good colour rendering. Most modern PCs and monitors are adequate but the old monitor rescued from the loft may not be. Most modern laptop screens are suitable.
One of two screens?
ReadEZ 2020 can operate in single or dual screen mode. The latter enables the clinician to control the software on one screen while the patient views the stimuli on a second screen. This allows the clinician to maintain full control of the test and keep a transcript of results while the patient's screen remains free from distractions.
The dual screen mode is therefore preferable if the PC has this facility and space permits.
Eye tracking
ReadEZ 2020 includes the functionality to record eye movements while reading. This provides an objective record of reading performance and helps to determine if colour is likely to be beneficial.
This feature requires the purchase of a Tobii Eye Bar from Thomson Software Solutions. The Eye Bar is attached to the lower bezel of a monitor and plugged in to a USB3 port on the computer.
Eye tracking require a considerable amount of "number crunching" and so we recommend a minimum computer specification on an i5 processor.
