Licensing

Test Chart 2016 can be supplied with three licensing options depending on the intended application and user preference:

Dongle licence

The software is provided with a USB Dongle.  The Dongle must be inserted into a USB port at all times when using the software.  The software may be installed on multiple PCs and the Dongle simply transferred to the PC when it is used.

Advantages:

• Software may be installed on multiple computers (but only used on one at a time).  This is useful for those who might want to use the software on a consulting room computer and on a laptop for domicilaries.
• No internet access required




Off-line activation licence




A unique serial number is generated when the software is installed.  This is submitted to Thomson Software Solutions and an activation code will be generated for this serial number.




Advantages:

• No Dongle is required.
• No internet access required




Disadvantages:

• Requires reactivation ever year
• May only be used with a single computer







On-line activation licence




The software links in with a licence server.  An activation code (provided when the software is purchased) is entered when the software is first installed.  The software periodically checks with the server to ensure that the licence is still valid.




Advantages:

• No Dongle is required.
• Does not require manual activation




Disadvantages:

• Requires internet access
• May only be used on a single computer
