TEST CHART 2000: THE STORY SO FAR

In the mid 90s, a team led by Professor David Thomson set about developing the software to exploit new developments in computer and display technology to provide eye care professionals with a powerful new set of tools for vision assessment in the consulting room.

Test Chart 2000 was launched in January 2000 and was the first Windows-based computerised test chart in the world. The program provided a cost-effective and extremely versatile alternative to conventional back-illuminated charts and projectors and the response from clinicians was immediate and enthusiastic.

Within two years, Test Chart had been installed in over 800 clinics and consulting rooms worldwide.

Test Chart 2000 PRO, launched in 2002, built on the success of Test Chart 2000, incorporating many new tests and features. Since then the system has been installed in many leading eye hospitals, optometry schools and over 2500 optometric practices in the UK alone.

Test Chart 2000 continues to develop with the support of a dedicated research team and offers an unrivalled battery of tools for vision assessment.
