Under the terms of the Health and Safety Display Screen Equipment Regulations, all computer users are entitled to eye examinations paid for by their employer. However, a relatively small proportion of computer users are likely to require spectacles specifically for viewing their computer screen and many eye problems are related to poor workstation ergonomics and inappropriate work practices.
The CITY Vision Screener for DSE Users is a Windows-based program which provides an appropriate and cost effective solution to meeting the requirements of the DSE regulations. The program was initially developed by Prof David Thomson of City University and has been developed commercially and marketed by City Visual Systems.
The program has been marketed since 1992 and has enjoyed international success among large and small companies. Systems are available for Government Departments, Companies, Optometrists, Doctors and Occupational Health Professionals. Here is what the reviewers say:
“Simply the most efficient way to comply with the DSE Regulations”
“The program is quick and easy to use and takes the hard work out of vision screening.”
“The program enables us to rapidly determine which DSE users need to be referred for a full eye examination.”
The general aim of the program is to place VDU users into one of the following categories:
